Well for three weeks now, the Bengals have not lost a game. Which, for the Bengals is an accomplishment. However, in those three weeks, they've only won one game after tying with the Eagles today. It's the first tie in the NFL since 2002. Can we finally all agree that the NFL overtime procedure is broken and should be fixed. There should never be a tie in a professional game. Find a way to determine a winner. Five quarters with no team winning is bad for the game and bad for the fans.
Now, for the game. The play calling for the Bengals was atrocious in overtime. It was 3rd and 6 and they run a play up the middle. No way was Benson was going to get that against the Eagles defense. Then they put the fragile (and worthless) Chris Perry in for a small little dump pass with time running out. The Bengals only had one timeout and of course Perry got hurt which meant the Bengals had to burn that last timeout. This cost the team another play or two and there was no reason for Perry to be out there at that time or for his number to have been called at that point.
