all in all, the Krivdog wasn't a bad GM. I thank him for his steadfast plan of developing our minor leagues and not mortgaging the future. I worry Jocketty will do that. The ONLY thing Reds fans have to hang their hat on now is the youngsters (BP, Volquez, Cueto, Bruce, Votto and even Homer). So, short of those guys, I say, do what you have to Walt (leaving Harang alone too). What did Krivsky in was his awful deals that just straddled us with bad contracts. I loved what Castelini said at his presser, he just better start following the words up with actions: "We're done losing." Good, now someone tell me exactly what can be done about it this poorly assembled offense, because the pitching is good enough.

The timing does not make sense to me. Twenty one games into the season is ridiculous. If Jocketty was going to be the man he should have been made it in the off-season. Why let Krivsky hang out there only to be sacrificed like a lamb just three weeks into the year?

I wasn't a Krivsky fan by any stretch, but he did an admirable job. Look, I can argue that were Jocketty the GM, we might have Erik Bedard and no Jay Bruce or Homer Bailey or Johnny Cueto. And to me, that's a bad thing. The one thing Dan O' Brien (of all people) and Krivsky as well, don't get credit for is the resurgence of our minor league system after Jim Bowden dessimated it. The Reds currently suck. As a Reds fan, I'm fine with it because, well, I wasn't counting on much this season anyway. But I sure do look forward to all the youngsters. I'm concerned that out of impatience and trying to win NOW, that Castelini and Jocketty will start purging our young talent for old talent. To me, I think, with Dunn and Griffey off the team next year, replaced with other missing pieces (a true clutch hitter of the right handed persuasion and Jay Bruce), that we can win SOON, not NOW.
Castelini is looking more and more impatient, which is fine, but just don't do anything stupid. Getting rid of a GM 21 days in the season and thinking that will help you stop losing is stupid. All of that being said, I think Jocketty is a better choice for GM, again, as long as they don't do anything stupid.
