Danica shut your pie hole

by Bret Sims 3/28/2008 7:17:00 AM

Danica Patrick is all up in arms because the IRL is going to add weight to her car so that all the cars have the same weight.

Jockey's have this done in horse racing to even the playing field.

Danica is acting like she is being punished and that because she isn't as strong as the bigger drivers that she should be given an advantage by having a lighter car.

What advantage is she losing?  She hasn't one a race to date and I seriously doubt she ever will.

Danica is the Michelle Wie of the IRL and I for one think she should just shut her pie hole.

If she looked like Roseanne Barr she wouldn't be getting any air time.

I got a better idea. Why doesn't Robby Gordon and everyone that was complaining about her "weight advantage" get off their fat asses and go drink a Slim-Fast? Awww, Robby's upset that he's pushing 250 and has to go against a little girl that weighs have as much as he does. Maybe a second helping of mashed potatoes last night wasn't such a great idea?

FWIW, I find it very curious that no one seemed to be complaining about weight imbalances when Helio Castroneves (who I can't believe goes over 150) won two straight Indy 500's. But now they're all up in arms that the precious little waif might get an unfair advantage from being too light? I think the city council of Rock Ridge said it best when they said "HARUMPH HARUMPH HARUMPH!!"

Adam, well said. Once again, Bret is on the wrong side of the issue. Danica is the ONLY thing going for IRL. Nobody cares about it. It's not NASCAR and never will be. So, a sexy woman who's yet to win (but has been competitive, unlike Michelle Wie) steals the spotlight. The IRL drivers are the ones who should shut their pie holes.

Sad thing is, I remember back in the day when Indy Car racing was the big thing, and NASCAR was just a regional circuit. Man, they really blew that one badly.

I'm coming down in the middle on this one. As a lifelong race car fan, they all need to shut their pie holes.

She doesn't have an advantage because she's lighter. It's proven in the fact that she's never actually won a race. It's all about horsepower and aerodynamics. The weight of the driver is a miniscule amount of that.

The complainers need to shut up because they are beating her on a consistent basis. She needs to shut up because she's not being "punished" for being a light woman. She needs to concentrate on trying to win her first race before she can cry about being punished for anything.

Danica Patrick should just get a boob job, print out a bunch of posters with her near her car and call that her career. She isn't going to win a race in my lifetime nor hers and it has gotten to the point that she has become insignificant in the sport and is being forgotten. So due to the lack of winning a race she needs to keep her face in the spotlight. Like I have said before, Danica and Michelle have the same number of championships as I have in their sports so I guess that makes me an athlete superstar.

Apparently Bret's definition for an athlete changes on a regular basis. Now a championship seems to be required. I do not really follow the IRL or LPGA, but I am quite sure that there are numerous drivers and golfers who are very good 'athletes' but have never won a title. For that matter there have been many football and baseball players that never won their league championship.

So, Bret, not only are you as good as Danica and Michelle, you are right up there with Dan Marino and Ernie Banks.
