Chad isn't the Bengals #1 anymore

by Bret Sims 2/5/2008 9:17:00 AM

Chad's antics on the football field grew tiresome a few years ago.

While his season stats look good, he often disappeared during the big games when the Bengals needed him most.  He padded his numbers against two or three teams.

T.J. Houshmandzadeh is much more consistent and has become Carson's #1 option.

Rumors are that Chad wants out of Cincinnati.  If that is true then I say trade him now, hopefully for someone that can play defense and move on.

We already have Justin Smith who is paid more than the NY Giants front line and isn't as good as any of them.  Get rid of dead weight.

I sort of agree, but realize that Chad occupies the Asante Samuels, Champ Baileys, etc. on defense while TJ gets the #2 CB. So TJ is better because Chad is around. Without Chad, I still think TJ is a #1 WR, but he won't be as good. Especially with the lousy route running of Chris Henry (is that just the way he's used or is it more likely that he's just too stupid to know how to run a good route). Either way, Chad is replaceable, but there's no way I'll buy into the garbage that he won't be missed (at least his on field performance).
