Source: Bedard heading to Seattle

Any glimmer of hope that the Reds had at landing Orioles' lefty Erik Bedard may be about to be crushed.

Even though both Adam Jones and his winter ball manager, Luis Sojo, said so, the Orioles are denying the star minor-league outfielder is on his way to Baltimore for a physical.

Mariners spokesman Tim Hevly confirmed that Jones is returning to the U.S., though he wouldn't confirm it was for a physical. The Orioles are denying that any deal is done. "We do not have an agreement with the Mariners," president Andy MacPhail said. However, rumors aboud that the Mariners are sending Jones, Chris Tillman, either George Sherrill or Jeff Clement and a fourth player to Baltimore for Bedard

Erik Bedard says he is resigned to being traded this season and is disappointed that the Orioles haven't made a greater effort to sign him to a contract extension, the Baltimore Sun reports. "If they don't want me, [a trade] is the best thing to do," Bedard said in a phone interview with the paper. "Obviously, they don't want to keep me because there are a lot more talks [about] trading me than signing me. What am I supposed to do? I just go with the flow. I'll keep it as it is, and go with it, day by day."

While the Reds needed him, I did not want to mortgage our bright future for him. So, more power to the Mariners. Also, I didn't realize Pacman Jones was a two sport athlete.

Pacman Jones is very talented, he also serves as a gangsta on the side.

No offense, but this was a story that was waaaay overblown by the local media.

This potential deal was DOA as soon as the O's insisted on Jay Bruce, and wouldn't back off of that demand. The Reds would've been willing to part with a couple of their young studs to get Bedard, but Bruce was untouchable. Unfortunately, he was the only prospect that would satisfy the O's.

Why the local media kept tabs on this is beyond me. Slow news days I guess.

And Pacman had to switch sports because there is no Code of Conduct policy in MLB.
