Phillips is Golden

Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips won his first Gold Glove for his play in the 2008 season. Philips led all second baseman with a .990 fielding percentage. He made just seven errors on the season.

Other recepients for the NL awards were Yadier Molina, Adrian Gonzalez, Jimmy Rollins, David Wright, Carlos Beltran, Shane Victorino, Nate McClouth and Greg Maddux. It was the 18th time Maddux won the award in his 19 year career. And it looks like it will be his last as his retirement was announced by his agent Scott Boras on Tuesday.

Gold Glove Awards for the American League will be announced on Thursday.

Office Pool Frenzy: Week 10

Through nine weeks of the season I have picked 85 out of 129 (65.9%) possible winners, including my 10-4 effort last week in which I scored 72 out of a possible 105 points... My Survivor picks both struggled, but they made it thru as the Bears and Bucs pulled out Week 9 victories... Against the spread I was perfect as I nailed both of my straight wagers (PHI -7, and BAL +2) and cashed in on my two-team parlay as well with the Over 43 in CHI/DET and Under 41 OAK/ATL paying off...Here are my picks for this week's action:
