1530 Homer Show Notes: Week 2

by Dan Clasgens 9/11/2008 4:43:00 PM

Did you miss this week's Fantasy Playbook as I go on with Lance McAlister on 1530 Homer the Sports Animal? Either way here's my notes from the show...

TREND OR MIRAGE
--QB Phillip Rivers – MIRAGE – 3TD games are few in far between. He had newer games with 1 or fewer TD’s last season, including five contests with zero scoring strikes.

--RB Willie Parker – MIRAGE – Speaking of rare touchdowns. He ran for more scores in Week 1 than he did all of last year. He will be solid RB2 if he stays healthy, but don’t expect too many more hat tricks.

--RB Maurice Jones-Drew – MIRAGE – He will bounce back after a Week 1 dud (5 carries for 13 yards), it could be this week against the Bills.

--WR Eddie Royal – TREND – This week’s hottest waiver-wire pickup after a domination MNF performance. It looks like even with Brandon Marshall coming back this week that he will stay in the line-up with Darrell Jackson heading to the bench.

--TE Anthony Fassano – TREND – There are too few quality TE’s out there to ignore 8 catches for 84 yards and a touchdown. Parcells brought him there from Dallas for a reason.

INJURY REPORT
--Tom Brady (ACL,MCL) – With him placed on I.R., clearly it is going to have its ramifications. I expect Matt Cassel to be worth a look as backup, but I am anticipating the Pats’ going more to a power-running game and keeping the defenses honest with Randy Moss. The running game gets an upgrade on their fantasy values across the board, particularly Sammy Morris who undrafted in most leagues.

--LaDainian Tomlinson (toe) – LT missed practice on Wednesday and while I expect him to play, it is from being certain. Keep your eyes on this one.

--Marques Colston (thumb) – Had a surgery earlier this week and will be in cast for four weeks and it could take him a couple after that to get back on the field. David Patten, Robert Meachem, and Devery Henderson are must add wideouts as that offense is explosive.

--Dallas Clark (knee) – The Colts’ TE has not practiced all week and is doubtful.

--The Entire Seahawks’ Roster  -  With Nate Burleson placed on IR, there are no receivers left in Seattle. You should probably look elsewhere at starting QB options for the next few weeks than Matt Hasselebeck.

VALUE PACK (Line-Up Advice – Guys that deserve a look)
--QB – Brian Griese (vs. ATL)
--RB – Chris Johnson (at CIN)
--WR – Dwayne Bowe (vs. OAK)
--TE – John Carlson (vs. SF)
--DEF – Giants
