As I sat and watched Green Bay's offensive game plan in the first half of the NFC Championship game I had to call my friend Ray, who is from Wisconsin and who's family has Packer season tickets.

 "Ray, did the Packers rehire Mike Sherman over the weekend?", I asked?  Watching the Packers throw two conseutive passes to Koren Robinson behind the line of scrimmage before punting led me to that conclusion.

So I sat and watched Green Bay give the ball a whopping total of 13 times to Ryan Grant.  Are you kidding me?  Grant, the stud running back that gave the Packers a legit running game all season and who ran for 201 yards and three touchdowns last weekend only got the rock 13 times.

In a game where the temperatures were -24 degrees farenheight with the wind chill and the receiver's couldn't hold onto passes, as an offense you are supposed to run the ball.  The Giants understood this that is why they ran the ball 39 times.  Did they get a lot of yards on the ground?  No not really but they did grind up the clock as they had the ball about 40 minutes and they wore down the Packers defense.

Thanks to Mike McCarthy  and the Packers' offensive coordinator Joe Philbin we now get the Giants and Patriots in the Super Bowl.  No-one outside of the east coast is going to give a darn.  We could have had the old gunslinger trying to ruin the perfect season.

Now we get Elmer Fudd in a Giants uniform hoping to pull of the upset over the Patriots.  People hate the Patriots and want to see them lose but nobody likes Eli "Elmer Fudd" Manning any better.  Hopefully the writer's strike is over by then and I can catch some new episodes of Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.  Because watching the Super Bowl is no longer an option.

Giants vs. Patriots in Super Bowl XLII. Really? Is that the best we can do? I am a huge NFL fan. I love the sport, the competition, the parity. But this Super Bowl has all the makings of a dog. Yes, the Giants played the Pats tough for 3 quarters in Week 17, but come on. Plus, does anyone believe Eli Manning will be a Super Bowl winning quarterback? The Patriots and their hobo-robo jerk of a coach will gameplan for them and win this game handily. By the time Tom Petty takes the stage at half time, it will be over (and I'm not one for halftime shows, but is Tom Petty really Super Bowl halftime worthy?). Glad we usually play poker at the Super Bowl party I go to, as we'll be shuffling the deck early and let the women watch the commercials and then eventually relinquish the remote altogether so they can find something on HGTV or Lifetime.
