2008 Fantasy Football Draft: Round One

by Dan Clasgens 1/1/2008 11:06:00 PM

The playoffs haven't even begun yet and I am already thinking about next season. Fantasy drafts are going to be more interesting than ever.  I begin my five-part series on how I see the first four rounds shaking down, or at least the way it should if your league is not full of idiots. For the sake of argument let's assume it's a 12-team draft and a yardage+TD league:

ROUND ONE
1. LaDainian Tomlinson, RB, SD
- Still on top in my mind and another rushing title proves it; LT stays at the top

2. Brian Westbrook, RB, PHI - Durability tag is exaggerated a bit; One of the more consistent yardage producers

3. Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN - Nose dive at the end of the season scares me, especially if Tavaris Jackson returns at QB

4. Steven Jackson, RB, STL - Could easily be the steal of the draft; underrated after a injury-riddled 2007 season in St. Louis

5. Joseph Addai, RB, IND - Puzzled me at times this year, but his potential in the Colts' offense is far from being reached

6. Tom Brady, QB, NE - He may go earlier than this, but don't hold your breath on 50 TD's; I can't go QB in my top 5

7. Clinton Portis, RB, WAS - Many didn't notice, but Portis was a fantasy force at times this season and will be again next year

8. Randy Moss, WR, NE - Hands down the No. 1 wideout heading into next season, only 1st Round wideout on board

9. Larry Johnson, RB, KC - The biggest mystery of the first round; Brodie Croyle doesn't scare me as bad as the Lisfranc injury

10. Peyton Manning, QB, IND - The model of consistency. One of the few first round producers that can be counted on

11. Frank Gore, RB, SF - He's going to fall down in the draft, but not out of the first round; still has upside

12. Ronnie Brown, RB, MIA - It will be interesting to see how things shake down in Miami with Bill Parcells calling the shots

STAY TUNED FOR ROUND 2 - COMING SOON!
